A Shipping and Receiving Associate is responsible for preparing outgoing shipments and receiving incoming shipments. Their duties include organizing inventory for easy retrieval as new orders come in, reviewing incoming and outgoing shipment schedules to maintain productive operations and documenting damage to inventory.
Responsibilities
Inspecting loading operations to ensure compliance with specifications.
Investigating and solving shipment problems and issues.
Ensuring shipping area is organized and clean at all times and meets all compliance factors.
Main Priority shipment of orders.
Determining shipping priorities, work assignments and shipping methods required to meet shipping and receiving schedules.
Directing movement of shipments to appropriate work areas.
Preparing boxes for shipping.
Additional tasks as needed.
Inspect products for defects and damage.
Keep the warehouse clean and organized daily.
Check, verify and fill customer invoices.
Loading boxes onto trucks.
Organize warehouse space.
Other Janitorial/housekeeping duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Regular, reliable and predictable attendance necessary for adequate scheduling and coverage.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
Must pass background & drug check.
Ability to read and comprehend orders, incoming material data, and to complete required paperwork.
At least 2 years’ experience in a shipping/receiving position.
Knowledge of computers or the ability to learn.
Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Experience working in a production or industrial work environment.
Must be able to operate forklift truck.
Must be able to use tape measurements.
