North Atlantic Concrete, Inc. is currently seeking a Junior Estimator to join a well-established concrete company that specializes in commercial foundation and flatwork in the North Atlantic region. The Junior Estimator will support the Senior Estimator in the calculation of material quantity requirements, gathering estimating data and compiling data for use in bid proposal estimates.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Understand project specifications, and accurately quantify the materials needed. This involves interpreting architectural and engineering drawings.

Determine the cost of materials, labor, equipment and other project related expenses. Gather current market pricing for materials, labor rates and rental costs.

Work closely with Project Managers, Subcontractors and suppliers to gather necessary information and clarify project requirements. Effective communication is key to ensuring that estimates align with project expectations.

Utilize bid software to create detailed document record keeping including breakdowns of costs and quantities.

Research and network new subcontractors as required.

Self-motivated/self-directed

 

Job Requirements:

Experience with construction management and hard bid projects.

Experience with computer-based estimating software i.e. Bluebeam, QuickBooks, Excel

 

Special Skills:

Proven written and verbal communication abilities; strong problem solving and negotiation skills. Excellent attention to detail and professional team player. Proficient in computer applications specifically Microsoft office products.
