Summer Camp Lifeguard
Job Summary:
We are seeking a responsible and experienced Lifeguard to join our summer camp team. The Lifeguard will be responsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of campers during aquatic activities. The ideal candidate should have strong swimming skills, excellent communication skills, and the ability to remain calm in emergency situations.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise campers during swimming and water-based activities to ensure their safety.
- Enforce safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Monitor swimming areas and respond quickly to any potential hazards or emergencies.
- Conduct regular inspections of the pool, equipment, and surrounding areas to identify and resolve any safety concerns.
- Provide guidance and instruction to campers on swimming techniques and water safety.
- Assess the swimming abilities of campers and assign appropriate swim levels.
- Administer first aid and CPR as necessary.
- Communicate effectively with camp staff, parents, and campers regarding safety guidelines and procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of incidents, accidents, and rescue attempts.
- Assist with the setup and cleanup of swimming and waterfront areas.
- Attend regular staff meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
Requirements:
- Certified lifeguard with a valid CPR and First Aid certification.
- Previous experience as a lifeguard at a pool, beach, or summer camp.
- Strong swimming skills and the ability to swim long distances.
- Excellent observation and surveillance skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to remain calm and act quickly in emergency situations.
- Knowledge of water safety and rescue techniques.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Physical stamina and endurance to perform duties in various weather conditions.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
