Gorton Law LLC has an immediate opening for a Legal Assistant. This new position will join a team of three attorneys and several para-professionals who practice primarily immigration law. You will assist the attorneys as required, including in managing correspondence and client communication, office administration, and operational support. You will also assist in the preparation of applications for immigration benefits and coordinate the preparation of immigration applications with our clients. Your assistance in the daily operation of the office will be an essential contribution to our team. You will assist in offering excellent client service. Our clients love us & we love what we do.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience with and familiarity with the operations of a law office, specifically immigration law or estate planning. The ideal candidate will be fluent in a second language. Women and minority applicants are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities:

• Take a front-line role in contacting and communicating with clients and assisting attorneys with intake and inbound / outbound correspondence
• Provide great customer service
• Prepare and draft substantive legal product on behalf of clients, including applications for asylum, adjustment of status, visas, and waivers; estate plans and ancillary documents, and court filings such as motions, pleadings, and legal briefs under the supervision of two attorneys.
• Perform administrative and management functions related to the operation of a law office
• Comply with all legal standards and regulations

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in immigration law or estate planning recommended
• Fluency in a second language is encouraged but not required
• Strong organizational skills required
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to build rapport with clients
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
