We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented FSQA Manager to join our team. The FSQA Manager will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of food safety and quality assurance for our organization. This role requires a deep understanding of food safety regulations, quality management systems, and industry best practices. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food science, microbiology, or a related field, with proven experience in managing FSQA programs in a food manufacturing or processing environment.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement food safety and quality assurance policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, federal, and international regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections of facilities, processes, and procedures to identify gaps and areas for improvement.
- Lead the organization in achieving and maintaining industry certifications (e.g., HACCP, GFSI standards).
- Manage and mentor FSQA team members, providing training and guidance as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Production, R&D, and Supply Chain to resolve quality-related issues and implement corrective actions.
- Investigate customer complaints and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Monitor and analyze quality performance metrics to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Prepare and present reports to senior management regarding FSQA performance and initiatives.
- Stay current with industry trends, scientific research, and regulatory changes affecting food safety and quality.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Education & Experience:
- No degree with a minimum of 10 years of FSQA experience.
- B.S. degree or above in Food Science or related field with a minimum of 3 years experience working in FSQA.
- Experience with SQF or BRC audits preferred.
- Computer Skills: Standard computer skills required; generating spreadsheets and develop templates for use by plant management and corporate FSQA sales and operations.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills required both written and verbal demonstrating the proven ability to correspond with all levels - line team members to corporate management.
- Special Skills: Must have good problem identification and problem-solving skills. Must be able to work independently yet interact with many different facets within the organization and be the plant liaison to USDA. Supervisory: Manage crewing labor and attendance of the FSQA department.
