Position Overview

We're hiring a Nonprofit Formation Consultant to guide our awesome nonprofit founders through the 501(c)3 entity formation and IRS tax exempt application process. You will create and manage various state and federal documents across numerous accounts, understand and communicate government requirements to those clients, prepare & submit applications, and consult clients.  We are looking for someone with organization and data skills - we can teach you the nonprofit side. 

 

What you will do

  • Manage, prepare, and fulfill various nonprofit filings, including EINs, 1023 Long Form, Annual Reports, and Nonprofit and LLC Dissolutions.

  • File amendments as needed, such as registered agent changes, name changes, and fiscal year changes.

  • Assist the Filing team with researching the components involved in filing on various government databases and public record sources.

  • Develop a thorough understanding of state and federal compliance requirements, including checking name availability and status, and requesting public record documents.

  • Lead consultations with clients regarding the required steps to obtain nonprofit status.

  • Ensure the timely and accurate filing of client applications to government agencies, a key requirement for the job.

  • Help the filing team identify gaps in service and registration, and report these to clients.

  • Effectively prioritize and handle a high-volume, time-sensitive workflow, ensuring smooth progress from submission to completion.

  • Manage the customer support inbox - answering questions from customers and escalating certain issues to manager (currently using Hiver for email and JustCall for text correspondence, will be utilizing Intercom in near-future)

  • Conduct thorough and accurate research, call government agencies, meet established Service Level Agreements (SLA) such as response time and filing deadlines and communicate with clients about their projects by phone and email

  • Communicate and collaborate effectively with remote team members

  • Communicative - Our customers depend on us to communicate during our time working together, and your coworkers value your experience and opinions

  • You have an attention to detail - If a customer sends you something with a spelling error, you notice and reach out for confirmation. If something from a government agency doesn’t match what you submitted, you catch it and have them correct it.

  • A sense of humor - We work with humans and government entities, so sometimes things are so silly we have to just post a meme about Tax Season and laugh together

  • A quick learner - Sometimes systems update, states change requirements, etc. We have to be able to continue to serve our customers excellent service and not cause any stress or hardship on them

 

Qualifications

  • 2 yrs of exceptional track record of customer service or client relations experience

  • Corporate Filing experience, including nonprofit formation preparation and drafting. 

  • Details are crucial for you; you go crazy over wrong spelling and formatting errors.

  • You love dealing with tons of data and can process it quickly without making errors.

  • You possess a combination of a high-communication, service-oriented mindset while being highly organized, accurate, and detail-oriented

  • Knowledge of or experience working in the nonprofit, foundation or government sectors a plus

  • Understanding of business entity or nonprofit formation process such as IRS 1023, Articles of Incorporation, EIN, etc. a plus

  • You’re able to prioritize work effectively in a rapidly-evolving environment while consistently meeting deadlines

  • Prior experience with project management software a plus

  • You have a positive, resourceful attitude - culture is king on our team

 

To succeed in this role, you should be comfortable using tools such as:

  • Google Suite (Gmail, Forms, Docs, Sheets, etc.)

  • Trello 

  • ActiveCampaign/Or other CRM tools

  • Slack

  • Zapier

  • Adobe Acrobat 

  • ChatGPT

  • Zoom 

  • Intercom (implementing soon)

 

Location & Hours

This position is 100% remote (yes, really). Full time at 40 hrs per week (flexibility with hours to be determined between employee and manager). This position is perfect for military spouses, parents, and more. 


Compensation

The salary range is $40-50K, commensurate with experience.
