Job DescriptionJob Description
  • Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation of the shipping department on the 3rd shift.
  • Display the ability to give direction and manage all employees within the department.
  • Ensure that scheduled dispatch times are met and that all work is completed in a timely manner.
  • Scheduling employees to make operations run in the most efficient manner.
  • Supervise shipping personnel—monitoring breaks, break schedule, and hours.
  • Hire new employees and conduct evaluations of new hires.
  • Conduct corrective action when necessary and communicate to the management team.
  • Complete daily paperwork. This includes transport times, shortage reporting, and submitting necessary feedback and information to department heads.
  • The supervisor is responsible for communicating with outlying facilities, bakeries, and managers that are applicable to day-to-day operations.
  • Monitor issues that could arise and report them in a timely manner.
  • To monitor and control inventory levels.
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse.
  • Train and cross-train shippers to minimize disruption due to unforeseen circumstances.
  • Ensure all employees are following company rules related to safety.
  • Communicate and administer all company policies and procedures consistently.
  • Work extra hours or days if necessary.
  • Commit to a continuous improvement work team environment.
  • Maintain a close relationship with the local management team.

Required qualifications, skills, and experience:
An ideal candidate would possess a minimum of (2) years of experience in a management position or display leadership qualities that fit company expectations.

Able to use Outlook and Excel.
