McLean Counseling Center seeks a TMS & Neurofeedback Technician to join our team. As a TMS & Neurofeedback Technician, you will play a crucial role in administering Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) treatments and neurofeedback therapy sessions to clients, utilizing state-of-the-art equipment and techniques to help individuals enhance their cognitive functioning and overall well-being. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work at the intersection of neuroscience and mental health, making a meaningful impact on the lives of our clients.

This position does not require prior experience in TMS or neurofeedback therapy. You will undergo an extensive training program designed to familiarize you with the principles and techniques of neurofeedback therapy, enabling you to confidently provide this service to our clients.

Responsibilities:

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS)

  • Administer TMS treatments according to specific physician protocols. Set up the TMS medical device and monitor all aspects of the treatment sessions for patient comfort and treatment accuracy.
  • Provide excellent patient care and treat patients with compassion while developing trust and rapport. Provide support, reflective listening, and compassion to patients struggling with depression, anxiety, or other mental health or medical condition.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively, ensuring patient comfort, coil contact, and TMS system setup throughout treatment.
  • Administer psychiatric rating scales and conduct patient assessment per protocol prior to treatment, conduct patient discharge consultations per protocol.
  • Communicate with team of certified TMS psychiatrists and other physicians who oversee patient treatment.
  • Effectively assist psychiatrist and/or other physician with mapping procedure.

Neurofeedback Therapy

  • Perform QEEG Assessments: Conduct quantitative electroencephalogram (QEEG) assessments to gather baseline data on clients' brainwave activity, analyze QEEG results, and interpret findings to inform neurofeedback treatment planning.
  • Conduct Neurofeedback Sessions: Administer neurofeedback therapy sessions to clients according to established protocols and individual treatment plans.
  • Monitor Client Progress: Monitor clients' physiological responses and brainwave patterns during neurofeedback sessions, adjusting protocols as needed to optimize effectiveness.
  • Provide Support: Offer emotional support and encouragement to clients undergoing neurofeedback therapy, fostering a supportive and empathetic therapeutic environment.
  • Educate Clients: Educate clients about neurofeedback therapy, including its principles, benefits, and expected outcomes, to ensure informed participation and compliance.

General

  • Coordinate Scheduling: Coordinate scheduling of appointments, ensuring efficient utilization of resources and timely delivery of services.
  • Maintain Records: Maintain accurate and detailed records of client sessions, progress, and any observed changes or concerns, adhering to confidentiality and privacy guidelines.
  • Collaborate with Team: Collaborate with other McLean Counseling Center team members, such as psychologists, psychiatrists, and counselors, to develop comprehensive treatment plans and provide integrated care for clients.
  • Stay Updated: Stay abreast of developments in the field of TMS and neurofeedback therapy, including new research findings, technological advancements, and best practices, and integrate relevant knowledge into clinical practice.
  • Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in neuroscience, psychology, counseling, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in administering TMS or neurofeedback therapy or related modalities is desired, but not required.
  • Strong understanding of brain anatomy, physiology, and neuroplasticity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to establish rapport with clients and collaborate effectively with colleagues.
  • Attention to detail and proficiency in maintaining accurate records and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical standards and confidentiality in client care.
