Recruitment for Trauma Law-

Our paralegals are responsible for assisting our brain injured clients navigate litigation related events, prepare for
and attend depositions, help them answer discovery and gather all the information needed to pursue and maximize
their claim and maintain constant contact with our client throughout their case.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Manage and maintain firm litigation calendar
● Manage and maintain statutes calendar
● Make sure statute calendar remains 6 months ahead of statute
● Complete litigation assignments re: discovery, court filings (including service of process), motion calendar and
assignments to lawyers

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
● Use Casepeer to optimize firm workflow by assuring prompt and accurate handling of assigned cases and tasks
● Organize and manage documents, including creating spreadsheets and retrieval systems using firm’s document
management process/SOP
● Calendaring, tracking all statutes for accepted cases and leads (and Review Casepeer/OneDrive daily for new
intakes)
● Calendar and manage court deadlines
● Track and calendar documents served on our firm or received at our office
● Track and calendar all documents sent to process server by our firm
● Review cases in anticipation of filing lawsuit or serving a government claim
● Prepare lawsuit drafts and supporting documents for lawyer review
● Draft government tort claims for lawyer review
● File and serve all court documents (review court rejected documents, edit and re-file, note case number in
CasePeer, add case to litigation case Excel spreadsheet upon conformed copy of initial filing)
● Serve government claim forms
● Work with lawyer to draft and serve arbitration demands
● Draft and track meet and confer letters
● Schedule court hearings, depositions and other proceedings, as per attorney’s request
● Research case-related factual issues using in-house files and outside reference sources, such as laws, regulations,
and legal decisions and articles, Google Maps, etc.
● Gather and review medical reports, police reports and insurance information
● Interview clients about injury causing events and injuries specific to each case
● Propound and respond to discovery as per attorney instruction
● Coordinate the collection, review, and production of documents for discovery
● Prepare and compile exhibits for motions, mediation briefs, trial binders, etc.
● Draft routine correspondence
● Regularly communicate with experts, and defense counsel in an effective and courteous manner
● Assist with pre-trial preparation, including drafting trial documents and preparing exhibits
● Compile files to send to experts, treaters, or vendors
● Prioritize and complete tasks on time
● Miscellaneous litigation tasks

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

● Strong knowledge of the legal procedures and court systems in California
● Proficiency in legal research, document drafting
● Excellent organizational and time management skills
● Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy
● Spanish language proficiency is highly preferred
● Great work ethic and positive attitude
● Highly organized and detail oriented
● Self-motivated

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
● 4+ years of experience propounding and responding to discovery in personal injury litigation
● 2 years of experience calendaring court deadlines
● Knowledge of California Civil Procedure and Local Court Rules
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
● Superior time management and multi-tasking skills
● Organized, detail-oriented, and a self-starter
● Strong medical knowledge including surgeries, injections, infusions and especially brain injuries
● ACP or ABA Certification preferred
● Bachelors degree is a plus
