Cybersecurity Engineer

Job Description:

Overview: We are seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer for a future 5-year project with the State Government of Virginia. The role will be primarily Hybrid/Onsite, involving close collaboration with the staff to enhance cybersecurity measures. The ideal candidate will have experience in deploying, administering, and supporting security systems, as well as conducting risk assessments and user training.

Work Mode: Hybrid/Onsite in Fairfax, Virginia.

Project Duration: 5 years with potential extensions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and manage cybersecurity tools, systems, and applications.
  • Develop and enforce security policies, standards, and guidelines to secure enterprise-wide operations.
  • Deploy and support infrastructure including endpoint protection, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and firewalls.
  • Monitor and respond to cybersecurity incidents, ensuring system security and continuity of operations.
  • Conduct risk assessments, audits, and validate system security controls.
  • Provide organization-wide cybersecurity training and outreach.
  • Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and evolving cybersecurity threats.

Qualifications:

  • Junior Level (1-2 years): Basic knowledge and experience in cybersecurity tools and practices.
  • Intermediate Level (3-4 years): Strong experience in implementing and administering cybersecurity systems.
  • Senior Level (5-7 years): Advanced expertise in cybersecurity infrastructure and policy development, with experience leading projects and teams.
