Position Summary:
As a Diesel Technician/Mechanic at our company, you'll have the opportunity to work on diesel trucks and/or buses while spearheading preventive maintenance and troubleshooting issues across all operating systems. Our diverse range of shop and mobile positions is open to enthusiastic team players who are eager to grow, collaborate closely, and are committed to exceeding our customers' expectations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize keen observation and listening skills to determine malfunctions in trucks and/or buses
- Execute preventive maintenance and take charge in troubleshooting issues across all operating systems
- Utilize manuals, hand tools, and power tools to carry out repairs and maintenance on electrical systems, power transmissions, brakes, drivelines, and other automotive systems
- Demonstrate efficiency in removing and replacing parts for repair within specified time frames
- Ensure accurate service data entry is maintained for all services performed
- Operate mobile equipment as needed
- Provide invaluable technical advice to drivers and other operators as required
- Keep parts inventory well-maintained and order supplies as necessary
- Undertake service calls at various locations and respond to emergency roadside repairs as needed
- Effectively communicate and direct co-workers through hand signals and two-way radio
- Maintain a clean and safe work area and adhere strictly to safety policies and procedures
- Step up to perform any other duties as required
Minimum Education and Experience:
- Essential requirement: High School Diploma or Equivalent GED
- Valuable experience: Minimum 2 years in heavy automotive equipment maintenance
- Preferred qualification: Trade school or related mechanical/technical certification
- Bonus point: Commercial Driver License (CDL) and a safe driving record
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- In-depth expertise in repair and maintenance of diesel engines, hydraulics, electrical, power transmissions, brakes, drivelines, and other automotive systems
- Competency in reading and writing in English
- Availability for 40 hours per week and overtime based on business needs
