Job Description: Technical Associate

NanoSpective is seeking enthusiastic, disciplined, and innovative applicants for the full-time position of Technical Associate. The Technical Associate plays a key role in the optical documentation, disassembly, and analysis of various devices, such as televisions, circuit boards, and mechanical devices. This position will also be responsible for preparing specimens, and working with scientific data in different formats. Strong computer skills and experience with digital photographic equipment are essential, along with a high degree of mechanical aptitude. Prior work experience and a background in microelectronics, science, or engineering are preferred.

 

Key Responsibilities

If selected, you will join the NanoSpective team as a Member of Technical Staff working within a rigorous culture in a fast-paced setting providing characterization and custom analytical services that help our clients. Example of duties include but are not limited to:

  • Optical documentation of devices using standard photography and light optical microscopy methods
  • Disassembly of devices ranging from televisions to circuit boards to mechanical devices
  • General preparation of specimens for subsequent analysis, e.g., mechanical sectioning, polishing, etching, ion beam milling, etc.
  • Reduction and reformatting of scientific data produced during analysis, e.g. photographs, micrographs and spectroscopic data
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Volunteer and outreach opportunities as available

 

Required Qualifications/Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • High degree of mechanical aptitude
  • Previous experience with digital photographic equipment, and image processing software
  • Excellent computer skills: experience with and fast learner of software, e.g., Adobe Photoshop, Word, Excel, Access, etc. Prior work experience

 

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Familiarity with current technology in microelectronic hardware is highly desirable
  • Scientific/engineering experience is desirable
  • Some college coursework is desirable
  • Experience in scripting/programming
