Job Title:
Chemical Engineer

Type of Position:
18-month contract position (role can be extended, but it’s also possible to convert to direct hire anytime after 3 months).

Job Location:
Iselin, NJ (on site role).

Compensation:
$53.50/hr. Overtime paid at 1.5x over 40 hours (and there will be regular overtime, especially in the execution phase).

Benefits:

•    This role will include limited PTO / paid holidays. There will be more extensive time off in going direct hire.

Job Description / Duties:
HRU Technical Resources has partnered with a major chemical, research, and agriculture organization to help hire a Chemical Engineer for our facility in Iselin, NJ.

Responsibilities:
•    Develop safety procedures for those working with potentially dangerous chemicals
•    Troubleshoot problems with manufacturing processes
•    Evaluate equipment and processes to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
•    Conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes
•    Design and plan the layout of equipment
•    Do tests and monitor performance of processes throughout production
•    Estimate production costs for management
•    Develop processes to separate components of liquids or gases or to generate electrical currents using controlled chemical processes
•    Conduct research to develop new and improved manufacturing processes

Required Skills / Experience:
•    Master’s Degree or Bachelor’s Degree in chemical engineering or related engineering fields with at least 2 years’ experience in catalyst evaluation, and design and operation of process equipment.
•    Strong knowledge of operating, troubleshooting and designing lab or pilot scale catalyst testing apparatus.
•    Strong knowledge of pilot scale testing unit maintenance and safety requirements.
•    Knowledge of circulating fluidized bed operation, and/or reaction and fluidization engineering are beneficial. Prior experience in catalyst testing and in materials science including physical or chemical characterization would be a plus.
•    Knowledge of process and automatic control equipment and software (e.g., LabView or Ignition) are highly desirable but not required.
•    Ability to lead an operation team as requires and supervise multiple technicians.
•    Ability to write technical reports and effectively communicate to a broader audience.
•    Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Work Environment / Physical Requirements:
•    1st (day) shift role. Standard schedule will be 8:30am to 5:00pm (Monday to Friday) with a 30 minute lunch break. This will be an on site role.
•    Occasional overtime is possible (but won’t be extensive). OT will be paid at 1.5x.
•    Offer will be contingent upon passing a background check and drug screen.
