Day Warehouse Manager

The Day Warehouse Manager will be responsible for the oversight of all the Receiving Department, and Warehouse Management Team. Additionally, you will oversee the reconditioning and processing components of operations while ensuring organizational goals are met. As the Day Warehouse Manager, you will ensure safe operating procedures throughout the distribution center and warehouse storage facility. You will ensure that all employees are working in accordance with good warehousing practices. Management of all warehouse employees will be a large part of this position’s line of responsibility, utilizing a “hand’s on” approach in the day-to-day supervision.

Responsibilities Include:

People Management:

  • Ensure that all warehouse personnel adhere to company policies, federal and state required mandates, including but not limited to DOT, Hazmat 126, and safety procedures
  • Manage Company Store through overseeing store personnel and the filing of all required paper and electronic records.
  • Delegation of tasks to team members daily
  • Manage warehouse associates, monitoring work and ensuring the safe use of warehouse equipment and reporting accidents as necessary.
  • Monitor workplace performance and sure all employees are trained properly, and lead training initiatives to improve employees
  • Conduct start-up meetings with team to discuss daily results, shift and department goals, directives/workloads, staffing needs, schedules, safety/housekeeping issues, and work assignments; discuss goals and objectives for the shift/department and Team Member performance

Operations Management:

  • Assist the Operations Manager in establishing operational procedures for activities such as verification of inbound shipments, handling and disposition of materials, and keeping warehouse inventory properly rotated, scheduling and balance inbound workload in conjunction with the purchasing department.
  • Ensure that all warehouse personnel adhere to company policies, federal and state. Communicate with the Operations Manager regarding warehouse operations and any relevant problems.
  • Oversee the inbound scheduling of truck shipments from vendors and manufactures
  • Oversee the operational tasks of Warehouse Management to include rotation of stock, select/loading of 3rd Party outbound orders.
  • Oversee the balancing, audits and reporting of inventory while making recommendations on which items to order and restock.
  • Assist with all outbound shipping duties including but not limited to: verifying LTL and carrier shipments, pulling and loading orders, unloading trucks, putting away freight as it is received, etc.
  • Reports damages to appropriate personnel
  • Establish warehouse practices and protocols to achieve an efficient warehouse
  • Set warehouse and team goals in collaboration with executive management and other team leads
  • Keep up-to-date on the latest federal and state safety regulations
  • Communicate with other departments to ensure products are shipped in a timely manner
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Education & Experience: Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school and two (2) to four (4) years of experience or equivalent combination of education & experience
  • experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Ability to manage the operation and maintenance of all Material Handling and warehouse equipment.

Other requirements:

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively manage work teams within a fast-paced environment
  • Problem solving skills and high adeptness to quick thinking and immediate problem resolution
  • The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
  • Initiative and decisiveness – must be able to motivate others to work to maximum potential.
  • Clear, timely and consistent communication to the other departments in the organization is a critical key to success.

Physical Demands:

  • Lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling up to 75 lbs
