Job Summary: As a Commercial Small Engine Mechanic with Welding Experience, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of small engines, including those found in lawn mowers, chainsaws, generators, and other commercial equipment. Additionally, you will utilize your welding skills to fix, fabricate and repair metal components and structures on trailers, ensuring that equipment operates safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and repair small engines, including those in lawn mowers, chainsaws, generators, and other commercial equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance on small engines, including oil changes, filter replacements, and tune-ups.
  • Troubleshoot and fix mechanical and electrical issues in small engines.
  • Use welding equipment to fabricate and repair metal parts, frames, and other components of machinery and equipment.
  • Inspect and test equipment to ensure it meets safety and performance standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of all repairs, maintenance, and inspections.
  • Order and maintain inventory of necessary parts and supplies.
  • Communicate with management to provide updates on repairs and maintenance.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a small engine mechanic, with expertise in repairing and maintaining commercial-grade equipment.
  • Strong welding skills, with the ability to perform MIG, TIG, and stick welding.
  • Knowledge of various small engine systems, including 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and diagrams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in small engine repair or related field.
  • Experience with hydraulics and electrical systems in small engines.
  • Familiarity with computerized diagnostic tools.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and carry heavy equipment and parts (up to 50 lbs).
  • Ability to stand, bend, and kneel for extended periods.
  • Comfortable working in various environmental conditions, including outdoors.
