Job Description:
Associate Grant Writers at Bruno Associates will work with New Jersey clients ranging from residential suburban communities to urban cities, as well as Boards of Education and county agencies. An associate will seek to provide funding solutions to a client’s complex infrastructure, land use, programming, or public safety challenges. Responsibilities include:

  • Working with Senior Grant Specialists to serve assigned clients and manage new funding opportunities
  • Coordinating the preparation of funding proposals, including but not limited to:
  • Review of guidelines to ensure thoroughness and completeness of each proposal
  • Outreach to local government and community stakeholders
  • Organization of supporting documentation (i.e. resolutions, letters of support, engineering plans, maps, cost estimates, financial records, etc.)
  • Preparation of grant narratives in full compliance with funding guidelines
  • Submission, tracking, and follow-up of pending funding requests

This work requires an acute attention to detail, the ability to juggle multiple projects with different deadlines, and the ability to work collaboratively with public and elected officials including, but not limited to mayors, administrators, clerks, council members, police and fire chiefs, recreation and health directors, and various other individuals with a role in local government. In addition to meeting the qualifications listed, competitive candidates will have:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science, English, History, Communications, or a similar field of study
  • Strong project management skills, particularly the ability to effectively prioritize and balance multiple assignments with different deadlines
  • Knowledge of (or interest in) government or philanthropic funding programs
  • Experience meeting deadlines and/or working in a fast-paced environment that requires high levels of organization
  • Prior experience providing customer or client service
