Independence Home Health is currently seeking a dedicated, qualified Pediatric Nurse Educator and Clinical Supervisor for our Broward County location. RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • The Pediatric Nurse Educator and Clinical Supervisor will be a key member of the Pediatric Nursing Team who provides key information about Independence Home Health to children and families who attend Joe DiMaggio Hospital.
  • Effective communication maintained between the acute care facility and IHHFL.
  • Identifying safeguarding concerns and escalating as deemed necessary.
  • Train and support home health staff.
  • Effective time management, working independently.
  • Ensure accurate and timely documentation is kept.
  • Effectively deal with inquiries
  • Work closely with the Case Managers, attending regular meetings to discuss vulnerable children and families who may need home health services.
  • Work within IHHFL guidelines and policies.
  • Participates in the development of standards that ensure safe and therapeutically effective service to patients/families.
  • Ability to supervise, guide, and develop nursing skills and performances.
  • Consult with the Director of Clinical Services/Administrator in determining a staffing pattern that will accomplish stated objectives and promote a maximum level of utilization of health personnel.
  • Assists in recruiting, hiring, evaluating, and terminating nursing personnel. Assists in instituting, interpreting, and documenting disciplinary action.
  • Responsible for the orientation of new pediatric patient care personnel.
  • Assists in the planning and consultative needs of staff.
  • Assists in the preparation and implementation of pediatric policies and procedures that meet Medicare, Medicaid, accrediting bodies, and state and local laws.
  • Displays a willingness to support policies and procedures and uses appropriate channels for changes in such policies.
  • Assists in the coordination of interdisciplinary team services, patient care and referrals.
  • Assists in the organization of nursing services to delineate and delegate functional responsibility, lines of relationship, and communication to provide safe and therapeutically effective service.
  • Participates in the coordination of the Agency’s services with the services of other community agencies.
  • Work as a strategic communicator and facilitator in ensuring staffing issues are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Observe confidentiality and safeguard all patient-related information.
  • Accepts responsibility for regular attendance and punctuality; fulfills job-related requirements without regard to time involved.
  • Serves as a resource person to employees.
  • Develops a cooperative relationship and communicates effectively and professionally with physicians in the hospital & community setting.
  • Investigate and report any problem relating to patient care and/or employee well-being.
  • Immediately report any accident, incident, lost articles, or unusual occurrence to the Director of Clinical Services/Administrator.
  • Attends pertinent continuing education programs other than routine in-services and shares information with staff.
  • Monitors equipment for appropriate use and takes steps to keep misuse to a minimum.
  • Assures the development, implementation, and updates of the individualized pediatric plans of care.
  • Reviews patient medical records for compliance with federal, state, accrediting bodies, local, and Agency policies and guidelines.
  • Assure that the pediatric patient needs are continually assessed.
  • Able to travel 25% of the time to patient’s homes and hospitals as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Graduate of an approved school of professional nursing or therapy school
  • Valid Florida Registered Nurse License
  • Three to five (3-5) years of Pediatric experience, preferred.
  • One (1) year experience in home health, preferred.
  • Acceptance of philosophy and goals of Agency.
  • Ability to exercise initiative and independent judgment.
  • Ability to work with individuals to enlist cooperation of many people to perform/achieve a common goal.
