Job Title: Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator
Reports to: Director of EHS
Direct Reports: None
General Description
The Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Coordinator evaluates the environment for potential hazards and risks, ensures compliance, and manages the workplace safety training program for employees. The EHS Coordinator is expected to stay current with federal, state, and local EHS regulations to establish the framework for a safe and healthy workplace. They are instrumental in the development and implementation of company policies and programs related to EHS compliance.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain programs and procedures that enable company to comply with Cal/OSHA, EPA, SWPPP (stormwater), CERS, and all other relevant EHS regulations.
- Manage Worker’s Compensation process from initiation to timely closure of claims.
- Participate in all EHS regulatory inspections and investigations.
- Manage Environmental Stewardship Program (Sustainability).
- Track utility KPIs (electric, gas, water, wastewater, solid waste).
Secondary Responsibilities
- Continuously evaluate and improve company practices while staying informed of emerging EHS regulation and industry standards.
- Manage wastewater process
- Participate as member of various committees.
- Perform any other duties required by senior management.
Required Qualifications and Competencies
- 2+ years work experience in EHS or related field.
- Strong ability to assess risk prioritize resources.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Self-motivated and independent.
- Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
- Can collaborate effectively with managers in various disciplines.
Desired Qualifications and Competencies
- Bilingual (Spanish).
- Experience with EHS regulations in the State of California.
- Experience assisting or leading in a culture-change initiative in regard to safety and safe practices
- Work experience in food manufacturing environment preferred
Education and Certifications
- High school diploma
Physical Requirements
Ability to sit/stand and use a computer for extended periods of time; ability to answer phones and utilize a variety of office equipment. Ability to bend, stoop, and perform otherwise physical functions required in normal office settings. Ability to walk and maneuver around an array of equipment, to work in a cold and warm environment, handle and work with hand tools, climb stairs, climb ladders and lift up to 40 pounds.
