1st Shift Lamination Machine/Tool Operator

 

Department: Lamination

 

Business Unit: PorterCorp

 

Location: Holland, MI

 

Reports To: Mike Mulder-1st Shift Lamination Production Supervisor

 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

 

Compensation: Hourly

 

Summary

 

The primary purpose of this position is to provide support in areas Shaping, Lumber Install and Wrap. This position is responsible for operating hand tools that shape Structural Insulated Panels following blueprint specifications as the finishing process prior to wrapping and shipment. This position is also responsible for installing lumber into Structural Insulated Panels following blueprint specifications as the finishing process prior to wrapping and shipment. This position is responsible for operating nail guns, saws, caulk guns and foam guns and following blueprint specifications. It also includes the installing of lumber in panels. This position is also responsible for ensuring that all pallets of SIPs are staged and wrapped according to order specifications and are properly protected from potential carrier damage. This position is responsible for the staging and wrapping of finished products to ready for shipment. This is a multi-purpose/multi-function position.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

 

1. Fabrication of SIPs utilizing various hand tools

2. Maintain a clean and safe work environment

3. Maintain quality standards

4. Problem solving in tough situations

5. Operate Hi-lo and overhead cranes

6. Properly band products and pallets using the packaging work instructions

7. Work with shipping to ensure all pallets are banded and wrapped by carrier pick up times

8. Keep all packaging materials complete and stocked throughout the shift

9. Place proper labeling on wrapped product

10. Wrap product utilizing shrink wrapping methods

11. Ensure and verify inventory is accurate and bundled properly

12. Perform other duties as assigned

Education and/or Experience

 

1. High school diploma or equivalent

2. Basic construction skills

3. Able to read blue prints

4. Able to read measurement tools

5. Wood working/carpentry experience

6. Knowledge of wrapping methods

 

Travel

This position requires minimal to no travel

Computer Skills

 

· Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access

· Demonstrated proficiency using EPICOR ERP or similar systems
