The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Metropolitan Medical provides direct nursing care to patients and educates patients and families on care, disease processes, and medications. This role operates under the supervision of a Registered Nurse Supervisor and is essential for maintaining patient safety and delivering quality care.

Key Responsibilities:

●      Nursing Services:

●      Provide nursing care under the direction of a registered nurse.

●      Administer care according to patient care plans and monitor patient conditions.

●      Prepare and document clinical progress notes when care is rendered.

●      Patient Observation:

●      Identify and report patient and family health needs through observation of physical, social, and emotional aspects.

●      Educate patients and families on self-care techniques.

●      Documentation and Compliance:

●      Submit all required paperwork on schedule.

●      Document verbal and telephone orders from physicians in line with agency policies.

●      Maintain up-to-date health and credential documentation as per company policy.

●      Medication Administration:

●      Administer medications as prescribed by physicians.

●      Report any changes in medication orders to the coordinating nurse.

●      Professional Development:

●      Participate in case conferences, in-service training, and other professional development activities.

●      Fulfill annual in-service education requirements.

Qualifications:

●      Graduate of an approved school of practical nursing with a current LPN/LVN license.

●      Minimum of two years’ nursing experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

●      Proficient in reading and interpreting healthcare documents and manuals.

●      Capable of writing routine reports and correspondences.

●      Able to effectively communicate with patients, families, and medical staff.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

●      Valid nursing license in the District of Columbia, Maryland, or Virginia; compact license preferred.

●      Current CPR certification is required.

Physical Demands:

●      Frequently required to stand; capable of lifting/moving patients and objects up to 100 pounds.

●      Must use hearing and vision acutely during work duties.

Other Qualifications:

●      Must display a sympathetic attitude towards providing services for home-based patients with medical needs.

●      Mature, emotionally and mentally stable to handle the complexities of patient care.

Work Environment:

●      Capable of performing multiple tasks in a fast-paced and varied environment, including private homes.

●      Ability to work effectively without constant direct supervision.

This position plays a vital role in ensuring the effective delivery of nursing services and patient education, contributing to the overall success of Metropolitan Medical's care team
