Job Summary

Moore Marine College is a new 4yr private college specifically for marine studies. We are looking for a professor that is driven to academic excellence and educating students not only in the classroom, but in the field. We expect the professor to develop their own research programs locally and include the students in their research out in the field at least one day per week. We currently have five research vessels that are available to assist you in this requirement. The undergraduate curriculum includes an internship with the Coastal Marine Education and Research Academy during the summer studying local elasmobranchs and successful candidates are expected to participate in this program.

This position will teach various courses in marine biology and marine conservation. The candidate must be able to mentor and advise graduate and undergraduate students and provide high-quality teaching in support of the Marine Biology B.S., Marine Conservation B.S. and master's marine biology programs, including developing and teaching graduate courses. The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential to develop an externally funded research program that actively involves graduate and undergraduate students. 

In addition to teaching, the position requires weekly office hours, attending faculty meetings, participation in assessment of student learning, and service to the college. The successful candidate will be held to the standards and requirements of the college.

Demonstrates commitment to the institutional mission, goals, and objectives.

Maintains accurate student records for grading and attendance purposes, submitting grade reports within college deadlines.

 

Skills
Ability to go into the field for research and teaching
Job Qualifications - Required

Hold a Ph.D. in marine biology or a closely related field from an accredited institution
College or University-level in-person teaching experience
Postdoctoral experience
Demonstrate potential to develop an externally-funded research program that actively involves graduate and undergraduate students
Strong publication history in peer reviewed journals that include papers as a first author
Ability to scientifically collaborate with national and/or international colleagues
