Job DescriptionJob Description

Responsibilities, but not limited to the following:

  • Developing and maintaining written objectives, policies, a procedure manual, an organizational plan, and a quality assurance program for the nursing service. All nursing policies and procedures shall be reviewed at least annually.
  • Participating in planning and budgeting for the nursing service, supervises purchasing supplies. Major equipment purchases are thoroughly researched and documented before the purchase goes to review.
  • Oversees Inventory Control, QM/PI, Infection Control, and Financial Analysis of the center.
  • Coordinating and integrating the nursing service with other patient care services to provide a continuum of care for the patient.
  • Ensuring that nursing staffing patterns are implemented.
  • Handles all clinical personnel issues.
  • Assisting in developing and maintaining written job descriptions for nursing personnel, and assigning duties based upon education, training, competencies, and job descriptions.
  • Coordinating and participating in staff orientation and staff education activities.
  • Participating in the business plan, marketing efforts and customer service of the center.

Responsibilities: (in specific) responsible and accountable for own nursing practice

Patient Care/Clinical Practice

  • Develops and maintains written objectives, policies, a procedure manual, an organizational plan, and a quality assurance program for the nursing service.
  • All nursing policies and procedures shall be reviewed at least annually.
  • Establishes, implements and monitors, in conjunction with other members of the patient care team, standards of patient care within the framework of the standards of the center.
  • Supervises and directs nursing staff towards safe and competent patient care.
  • Coordinates and integrates the nursing service with other patient care services to provide a continuum of care for the patient.

Administration

1. Applies sound management principles to organize, plan, coordinate and control the flow of activities, personnel and utilization of resources

2. Sets realistic unit objectives and demonstrates effectiveness in planning, implementing, and evaluating programs and activities to meet these objectives

3. Guides and directs the nurses in the conversion of goals and objective to concrete nursing administrative activities

4. Demonstrates analytical abilities necessary to successfully identify a problem and to develop a sound plan of action for resolution.

5.Works flexible hours in assuming responsibility and accountability for providing patient care. Relieves other nurses within the division, as necessary

6. Participates in maintaining a safe environment for staff and patients

7. Manages the clinical and nursing staffing patterns and evaluates the for overtime or per diem nurses to meet patient care requirements.

8. Reviews and/or revises established goals and objectives, to participate in the planning and evaluating of new program, special project and priorities

9. Establishes, interpret and implement standards of asepsis and infection control and monitors practice of all personnel concerned

  • Ordering of all medications and supplies
  • Overseeing, monitoring and documenting medical waste
  • In service instructions on procedures or new equipment
  • Maintaining employee records: Certifications, Licenses, Vaccinations, Incident reports, Etc.
  • Maintenance and up dating of polices and procedures
  • Overseeing the maintenance of all equipment
  • Overseeing of information control
  • Overseeing house keeping and Sanitation
  • Maintaining traffic control
