POSITION SUMMARY

Under the direct supervision of the Front Office Supervisor, the Patient Service Representative is responsible for front office day-to-day activities including participating in daily patient care team huddles, answering phones, scheduling appointments, patient registration, and collection of payments.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Responsible for greeting patients, scheduling patient appointments, ensuring all patient paperwork is properly completed including demographic and HIPAA forms.

· Assist in determine the financial status of patients and their eligibility for health services, assist patients in accurately completing appropriate forms and documents for the required information, collect co-pays, obtain authorizations from insurance companies when necessary, and enter in all patient information and financial information in the computer system in a timely manner.

· Collect and deposit fees according to protocols, prepare and balance daily financial registers and submit all forms and fees to the accounts department.

· Demonstrates the ability to establish and maintain effective, productive relations with co-workers, supervisors, patients, and the public.

· Maintains a neat/well organized work area. Responsible for maintaining an adequate number of supplies.

· Attends all in-service training as required.

· Maintains patient confidentiality.

· Maintains confidentiality and Code of Compliance per policy.

· Performs other duties, as assigned.

 

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS

· High School Diploma/GED required

· Associates Degree preferred

· Minimum of 3 years of Health Care/Customer Service experience required

· Strong communication and problem solving skills

· Bilingual (English and Spanish) required
