Compensation: $60,000 salary

About Us:

Ta Co. is an innovative modern Mexican fusion restaurant set to open its doors in Downtown Topeka this summer. We are proud to be the first of our kind, offering a unique dining experience across three floors with the kitchen situated on the 2nd floor. As we embark on this exciting journey, we are seeking a dynamic and experienced Kitchen Manager to join our team and play a pivotal role in our grand opening and future success.

Position Overview:

The Kitchen Manager will be responsible for overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality food, and maintaining guest satisfaction. This role is instrumental in implementing best practices from our existing restaurant portfolio and establishing new processes for Ta Co.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Kitchen Operations:
    • Oversee daily kitchen activities to ensure efficient and consistent food preparation.
    • Manage ordering of kitchen ingredients, supplies, and disposables.
    • Monitor food quality, presentation, and portion control to maintain high standards.
    • Collaborate with the culinary team to develop and refine menu items that reflect our modern Mexican fusion concept.
  • Staff Management:
    • Recruit, train, and mentor kitchen staff to ensure a skilled and cohesive team.
    • Schedule kitchen staff, manage shifts, and oversee labor costs to optimize productivity.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to promote growth and development.
  • Budget and Cost Control:
    • Monitor food costs, inventory levels, and wastage to keep expenses in line with budgetary targets.
    • Implement strategies to reduce costs without compromising on quality or service.
  • Safety and Compliance:
    • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including food hygiene standards and kitchen cleanliness.
    • Implement and enforce proper food handling, storage, and disposal practices.
  • Menu Development and Innovation:
    • Work closely with the GM to innovate and refresh the menu based on seasonal ingredients and customer feedback.
    • Prepare accurate and consistent recipes to maintain profitability while offering value to guests.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
    • Collaborate with front-of-house staff and management to ensure seamless service and guest satisfaction.
    • Communicate effectively with vendors, suppliers, and stakeholders to maintain strong relationships.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Kitchen Manager or similar role in a high-volume restaurant setting.
  • Strong knowledge of modern Mexican cuisine and culinary techniques.
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficient in cost control and inventory management.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and compliance standards.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
