Title: Pipe Welder

Location: Franklin Park, IL

Shift: 6:00 am - 3:30 pm

Aegis Worldwide is seeking a Pipe Welder to join a custom industrial equipment manufacturer in the Chicagoland area. This is a first-shift opportunity with a lot of overtime potential.

Responsibilities

• Able to read customs prints and ensure each weld meets the specs for that machine.
• Welds meet ASME code standards and be able to pass hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance tests.
• Use basic mechanical tools to cut and grind pipe.
• Responsible for performing welding tasks – ASME code and standard welds.
• Use powered saws, shears when necessary.
• Use a portable grinder, hand file, and/or scraper when necessary.
• Use precision measuring tools to inspect grooves and angles.
• Maintain proper equipment; repair when needed.
• Conduct tests to check weld quality, including hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance.
• Weld parts in flat, vertical, and/or overhead positions.
• Interpret drawings and plans; carry out work accordingly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• 2+ years of experience in pipe welding
• Experience with MIG & TIG welding
• Basic mechanical and pipe fitting skills.
• Must be able to pass an ASME-certified G6 test (GMAW, GTAW)
• Ability to read mechanical blueprints and weld symbols.
• Ability to pass X-ray tests.
• Ability to use numerous hand tools (Powered and Manual)
