Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree-accredited dental school

Position Overview

Provides diagnostic, preventative and restorative treatment to pediatric patients, including those with developmental disabilities and/or who are medically compromised. Maintains proper documentation of dental condition and treatment. Utilizes age-appropriate behavior management techniques and demonstrates proficiency in the treatment triangle of patient, parent and provider.

Age Group(s) Served:

  • ·Neonatal (0-3 months) – limited to ICN preemie plate treatment
  •  Pediatric (3 months-12 years)
  • Adolescent (13-18 years)
  •  Adult (18 years and above for special needs patients & college students)

Essential Job Functions

1. Provides routine and emergency dental care to patients with assistance from Dental Assistant(s) and Dental Hygienist(s)

2. The Dentist supervises Dental Assistant(s) and provides clinical supervision for Dental Hygienist(s)

3. Performs routine dental treatment including examining teeth and gums for cavities, infections and diseases; performs fillings and extractions as warranted.

4. Diagnoses and develops treatment plans for patients.

5. Responsible for the full range of dental care and education provided to patients, including prevention, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, injury, and deformities of the oral cavity.

6. Complies with all quality assurance, infection control, OSHA, safety and other policies and procedures of UPD

7. Understands and follows HIPAA and OSHA regulations.

8. Attends all required in-services, seminars and staff meetings.

9. Other duties as required or requested to meet patient needs and emergencies.
