ChildCare Site Director

$500 SIGN ON BONUS AVAILABLE

Job Overview: Childcare Site Director is a vital role in the YMCA Before and After School Care team. The Childcare Site Director dedicated to a specific program site location(s) (works with an office in the school) and is responsible for the oversight of the afterschool program in partnership with the collaborating school. The Childcare Site Director serves as the primary contact to the school administration and faculty and helps establish the YUSA signature program at the assigned school.

Part-time, Morning and/or Afternoon

Locations: Kingston City Schools, Rondout Valley, New Paltz, Ellenville, Highland, and Marlboro School Districts

Hourly pay rate: $20.00-$22.00

Responsibilities:

  • Administer the oversight and day-to-day operation of the afterschool program.
  • In partnership with the school staff and school liaison, monitor enrollment of youth in program.
  • Complete an implementation plan of activities to keep youth in program engaged and active. Work with Site-Supervisor on implementation of activities.
  • Coordinate with Site-Supervisor to prepare and monitor staff schedule at all times, modifying it as necessary to maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios.
  • Coordinate with the school’s administration, teachers, and other community partnerships to successfully implement the program.
  • Facilitate integration of the YMCA afterschool signature program into the overall school culture in collaboration with school leadership.
  • Evaluate program quality and fidelity, implementing necessary steps to remedy weaknesses according to Y-USA measurement and evaluation guidelines.
  • Promote a team concept through a positive approach to supervision, communication, and interactions with others. Maintain ongoing communication with Y Leadership and appropriate staff at all levels of the YMCA.
  • Provide communication with parents regarding program activities and child participation on a regular basis.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have at least a Bachelor’s degree related to youth development or education; Master’s degree preferred.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience working with children under the age of 13 in an educational setting, including at least two years in an administrative supervisory capacity with demonstrated decision making ability.
  • Must possess oral, auditory and written communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.
  • Positive role model with strong leadership, conflict resolution and diplomacy skills.
  • Must be capable of directing the daily administrative, program related, and supervisory responsibilities of the Afterschool Program.

The Afterschool Site Director is a part-time position dedicated to a specific program site location(s) (works with an office in the school) and is responsible for the oversight of the afterschool program in partnership with the collaborating school. The Site Director serves as the primary contact to the school administration and faculty and helps establish the YUSA signature program at the assigned school.

Position provides oversight for a short summer program that compliments summer learning at Chambers Elementary School in Kingston, NY from July 26th through August 13th from 1:30-5:30 pm daily, M-F. Provides a quality experience to children and parents focused on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Afterschool Site Director must have the competencies, skills and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out the YMCA mission, goals and vision for serving the community. Other important responsibilities include the following:
