Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Health (or related field) or Associate Degree and CADC certification or Associate Degree and one year of substance use disorder treatment experience. Must become certified within two years of providing substance use disorder treatment. Must have thorough knowledge of substance use disorders and related treatment modalities as well as a rudimentary knowledge of mental health disorders and its application to patient care. Must have valid driver's license and minimal auto insurance.
Physical and Mental Requirements
Good organizational skills, ability to use logical thinking to solve problems. Good short-term memory, verbal communication skills, ability to provide and follow effective written and verbal instructions. Ability to effectively monitor and develop subordinates when applicable. Ability to successfully complete training and perform C.P.R. Ability to perform light physical work exerting up to ten (10) pounds of force on an occasional basis. Sitting, standing and walking short distances are activities that the Addiction Counselor must perform.
Description
Under the Program Director and Clinical Supervisor, Counselors performs assigned patient care, educational and counseling responsibilities necessary to provide quality treatment. The Addiction Counselor also performs all supervisory responsibilities as assigned in the absence of the designated supervisor. These responsibilities are essential to meet licensing and other regulatory requirements and to meet generally acceptable, professional clinical standards. While counselors are assigned to one program, it may become necessary for them to be re-assigned, either temporarily or permanently, to another program. These functions are essential to assist The Council in achieving established goals and objectives as well as to assure efficient and effective Council operations.
