Certified Sterile Processor, Ft. Wayne, IN
Our client, a major hospital organization in Northern Indiana, has a need for a Certified Sterile Processor at their Fort Wayne location. Under the direction of the department manager and in collaboration with the Perioperative Services Leadership the sterile processor will clean, sterilize, store, and track medical equipment and surgical instruments used in medical procedures. They will work in the surgery centers of the facility and must be familiar with many different instruments and procedures.
Length of Contract: 8 weeks
Hours: 2:00pm – 10:30pm Monday – Friday
On Call: weekday/night call once every 7-10 days, full weekend call every 5-6 weeks
General Job Duties:
- Performs sterile processing functions for General Surgery, Pediatrics, ENT, Urology and Orthopedics.
- Responsible for the planning, ordering, special order inventory management, documentation and patient charge reconciliation for the clinical record of care.
- Responsible for strict adherence to all clinical, regulatory and industry standards for inventory, prioritization, maintenance, documentation, and sterilization of all surgical instrumentation equipment
- Aids in and reduces the risk of surgical site infections.
- Ability to demonstrate a working knowledge of general computer skills and applications.
Experience and Certification Required:
- 1-year minimum experience as a Certified Sterile Processor required
- Previous experience as a Surgical Technologist preferred
- Must have certification from IAHCSMM as Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST). Facility will also accept CBSPD.
