Skidder Operator

We are recruiting a Skidder Herbicide Applicator to join our team We are a forestry company that primarily does chemical and mechanical site prep and reforestation in eastern NC. We are looking for a qualified individual to operate one of our spray machines that sprays chemicals from the back of a skidder. We work east of Raleigh from Va line to the SC line. There is occasional out of town work but mostly just long days this time of year. Average day M-F 10-12 hours per day The successful candidate will have an understanding of the abilities of their machine in different landscapes and learn to be productive while also doing a good job. Successful candidate will have the opportunity to learn understory burning, running tree planting crews, and driving other equipment as well. Log skidder experience preferred. 100% health insurance included and covered by company. Pay is up to $20 per hour depending on experience plus OT.
Responsibilities:
- Operate a skidder sprayer on forested tracts
- Safely use pesticides and electronics to do the work efficiently
- Some heavy lifting is necessary
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures
- There will be opportunities to do a lot of other types of work such as tree planting and controlled burning as well
Qualifications:
- Experience in the woods as a log skidder operator or some types of woods experience is preferred
- CDL Class A license is a plus but not necessary
- A general understanding of motors, wiring, and equipment is necessary to do the job well
- Ability to handle physical workload
- Strong work ethic
