Immigration Paralegal

Worldwide Legal Services is looking for a motivated and experienced individual to join the firm as a full-time Paralegal.  The successful candidate will manage a dynamic workload that includes both casework and case management tasks.  The position is full-time in-person in the Short Hills, New Jersey location.  The position is not remote and requires the successful candidate to be in-person during all working hours.

 

Responsibilities, include but are not limited to:

  • Client Intake & Case Preparation:  Review client documents, prepare comprehensive indexes, and draft petition forms, applications, and supporting letters for attorney review.

  • Case Management: Maintain meticulous organization of client files, both electronically and physically.  Manage client, agency, and government correspondence, data entry, and physical files.

  • Immigration Processing: Prepare and file immigration applications, petitions, and work with clients to file applications for naturalization, family petitions, and others.  Identifying and requesting documents from local, state, and federal government and non-governmental agencies in the United States and abroad.

  • Client Communication: Engage with clients by phone, email, and in-person. Track client document expiration dates, proactively communicate with attorneys of upcoming renewals, and draft clear and concise client correspondence under attorney guidance.

  • Teamwork & Support: Assist attorneys in filing petitions and assembling immigration packages for seamless delivery. Ensure all packages are compiled accurately and saved securely in the firm's systems.

  • Calendar & Deadline Management: Create and maintain calendar reminders and deadlines for yourself, attorneys, and other team members, fostering overall project efficiency.

  • Miscellaneous:  Participate in ongoing training related to  areas of immigration law.  Provide additional support as needed in areas in and outside of immigration practice.  Attending regular team, program, and organizational meetings.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of immigration forms and documents, their completion process, and electronic/paper filing procedures.

  • Minimum two (2) years of paralegal experience working on immigration matters preferred.

  • Portuguese and Spanish, along with English language proficiency preferred (written and spoken).

  • Proficiency in immigration case management systems.

  • Research and translation skills to navigate filing requirements across various countries.

  • Excellent writing skills to draft letters to immigration agencies and informative client memos.

  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks effectively, and manage time meticulously to meet deadlines.

  • Desire to work collaboratively and be part of a team.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with a diverse client population as well as with community members, co-workers, and the public.

  • Eligible to work in the United States.

  • Excellent communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods of time.

Salary:  based upon experience
