Job DescriptionJob Description

  1. Project Assessment: Reviewing construction project plans, specifications, and blueprints to understand the scope, materials, labor requirements, and deadlines.

  2. Cost Estimation: Analyzing project requirements and calculating the costs associated with materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor services needed to complete the project.

  3. Vendor and Supplier Negotiation: Researching and obtaining quotes from vendors, suppliers, and subcontractors for materials and services. Negotiating prices to ensure cost-effectiveness while maintaining quality standards.

  4. Budgeting: Developing and maintaining project budgets by accurately estimating costs and tracking expenses throughout the project lifecycle.

  5. Risk Assessment: Identifying potential risks and uncertainties that may impact project costs or timelines, and developing strategies to mitigate these risks.

  6. Documentation: Documenting all cost estimates, quotes, contracts, and other relevant information in a clear and organized manner.

  7. Collaboration: Working closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate cost projections and to address any cost-related concerns or changes during the construction process.

  8. Continuous Improvement: Staying updated on industry trends, construction techniques, and material costs to improve the accuracy of cost estimates and enhance overall project efficiency.

  9. Quality Assurance: Ensuring that cost estimates align with project specifications and quality standards set by regulatory authorities and clients.

  10. Communication: Effectively communicating cost estimates, budget updates, and any cost-related issues to project stakeholders in a timely and professional manner.

  11. Deadline Management: Adhering to project deadlines and timelines while maintaining cost efficiency.

  12. Cost Analysis: Analyzing actual project costs compared to estimated costs to identify variances and opportunities for improvement in future estimates.

  13. Software Proficiency: Proficiency in using construction estimation software tools such as CostX, Bluebeam, or similar programs to streamline the estimation process and improve accuracy.

  14. Legal Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and building codes related to construction cost estimation and procurement practices.
