Job Description

Elgin Country Club is now hiring through early summer certified lifeguards with experience to join our Lifeguard Crew for the 2024 Pool Season.


Do you like working outdoors, being around the water, being a part of a fun team, and working with families and children? If this sounds like you, apply for one of our Lifeguard positions


Our pool season will run from the beginning of June through Labor Day.


POSITION OVERVIEW:

This position will be responsible for providing a safe, clean, and enjoyable environment for all Members and guests by consistently monitoring pool and deck activity while enforcing safety rules.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:

  • Prevent injuries and eliminate hazards, recognize and respond effectively in emergency situations, and operate all applicable equipment safely according to established policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for opening and closing duties, safety checks, and performing first aid care as needed.
  • Cleaning and maintaining the pool deck, bathrooms, and kiddie pool area.
  • Communicate effectively with the Pool Manager and co-workers to help maintain a cohesive workplace.
  • Directing swimmers out of water in dangerous conditions
  • Organizing and overseeing pool parties
  • Help with swim team and home swim meets as directed by the pool manager.
  • Closely monitoring activities related to the pool area, identifying any safety issues throughout the shift
  • Closely monitoring weather reports to make sure guests remain safe
  • Quickly and efficiently respond to Member questions, comments, and concerns.
Requirements:
  • Star Guard with proof of Lifeguarding w/ CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid conducted by the American Red Cross.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment in-water practical skills test
  • Experience coaching swim teams and teaching swimming lessons
  • Two or more years of lifeguard experience
  • Ability to follow prescribed procedures and guidelines in accomplishing tasks
  • Ability to be self-directed
  • Skill in attention to detail
