HIRING POSITION

HIRING FULL TIME NDT FIELD ASSISTANT TRAINEES NEAR INDIAN TRAIL, NC, OR SURROUNDING NC/SC COUNTIES. NDT EXPERIENCE IS NOT NECESSARY WE WILL TRAIN YOU AND PAY FOR YOUR SAFETY AND NDT COURSE TRAININGS.

COMPANY BACKGROUND

NDEI has provided nondestructive testing services for 30+ years throughout the US for multiple industries including Chemicals, Utilities, Consumer Goods, Pulp and Paper, Construction, Fabrication, Engineering and Automotive.

GENERAL SUMMARY

The NDT field assistant trainee(s) or Laborer will support our Lead NDT Technicians while gaining experience, training, and knowledge about the NDT industry. You will learn and assist in performing calibrations, nondestructive tests, and evaluations for acceptance or rejection criteria determinations based on the method of NDT test(s) utilized.

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Field duties require indoor and outdoor work at various industrial sites.
  • Interaction with other crew employees, as well as supervisors and client personnel.
  • Working in plant and/or shop areas around production machinery.
  • Must be able to wear all appropriate safety equipment as required by the safety department for personal.
  • Must be able to tolerate climate changes.
  • Will be required to travel out of town on a periodic basis.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Proficient with PC/Laptop and Microsoft Office 365 programs.
  • Proficient with filing and organization of paperwork and workspace areas.
  • Working knowledge and experience of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.
  • Prior to an offer of employment, you must be able to pass all applicable drug/alcohol tests, past employment, reference, and education checks/verifications.
  • Criminal background checks are conducted on all applicants prior to employment. Violent and/or sexual convictions are rejected.
  • Ability to pass physical aptitude health screening.
  • Ability to perform a wide variety of tasks.
  • Must be able to communicate professionally (written and verbal) with clients, supervisors, and co-workers.
  • Ability to follow precise directions and procedures.

Desired but not necessary

  • CAD
  • Technical background.
  • Mechanical and/ Mathematical aptitude.
  • Reading and comprehension of technical documents and engineering specifications.

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift and carry 50 – 75 pounds.
  • Must be able to walk, climb and remain standing or mobile for extended periods of time.
  • Jaeger 1 vision or other powers of observation, with or without reasonable accommodations, which permits employee to be aware of their surroundings.
  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing or other communication capabilities, with or without reasonable accommodation, which permits employee to communicate effectively.
  • Sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes, with or without reasonable accommodations to perform office duties and travel when necessary to off-site locations.
  • Sufficient personal mobility to maneuver within a refinery or plant environment to include the ability to gain access to elevated platforms via ladders and stairwells.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Assist with loading/unloading, setting up and breakdown of NDT testing equipment and supplies.
  • Assist in the calibration of NDT equipment.
  • Assist as the Ground attendant when a lead technician is above 6ft or on a ladder or aerial lift.
  • Assist in the conducting of tests to ensure quality and/or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT methods of inspection.
  • Assist with documenting results of NDT test method(s) and/or visual inspection.
  • Assist with the retrieval and upkeep of current industry codes, regulations, standards, specifications, and recommended practice documents.
  • Assist and/or perform routine preventive maintenance and checks of NDT testing equipment, tools, and PPE.
  • Print and organize technician manuals, jobsite forms or safety documents as needed.
  • Assist in performing other job-related tasks.
  • Learn and abide by all company, OSHA and our customers policies and procedures.
  • Assist with office responsibilities.
