DEPARTMENT: Operations                                                         LOCATION: Carrollton, TX

 

REPORTS TO: Warehouse Manager                                          FLSA STATUS : Non-Exempt

 

 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Load and unload company owned trucks with a GVW of less than 26,000 Lbs.

• Verify load accuracy, pallet counts and product type against the BOL and shipping manifest

• Complete the Driver Log at the facility for all cargo loaded

• Secure cargo to prevent damage enroute and properly arrange load to ensure vehicle balance and

wheel weight capacity is not exceeded

• Perform daily visual safety and maintenance inspection of the vehicle, such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel,

oil, and coolant level and annotate all discrepancies. Any safety or mechanical issues must be

addressed prior to departure, or have the vehicle removed from service accordingly

• Pre-plan routes ahead of departure

• Ensure delivery schedules are maintained

• Report vehicle defects that occur during the route

• Report all accidents, incidents and near misses, regardless of fault

• Report all issued violations issued by police agencies

• Verify that adequate supplies required perform the task are on hand.

• Observe all traffic laws, posted speed limits, caution, and warning signage.

• Always drive safely according to conditions of the road and existing weather conditions.

• Follow all routing requests from the Transportation Manager and stay in communication for any

deviations necessary from schedule

• Drive the truck to and from predetermined specified destination points, either empty or loaded

• Accurately complete all documentation and ensure customer receives their documentation confirming

the delivery is completed – any non-conformance must be annotated, and the Transportation Manager

must be notified immediately

• Follow all JB Hudco standard operating procedures (SOP’s) for shipment and inventory tracking.

• Maintain truck logs in accordance with all federal, state, and local regulations and in compliance with

the Department of Transportation

• Interact with customers in a professional manner

• Vehicle housekeeping must be maintained by the assigned driver

• Communicate, coordinate, and cooperate with JB Hudco supervisors and coworkers

• Operate warehouse equipment to include forklifts, electric pallet jacks, manual pallet jacks, and electric

stand up lifts

• Utilize a variety of hand tools as required.

• Operate an RFID handheld scanner for deliveries – scan as delivered.

• Follow quality service standards and comply with procedures, rules, and safety regulations.

• Responsible for insuring timely stock picks, accurate shipping, and accurate receiving

• Operate handheld RFID Scanners to move inventory through receiving, put away, storage, cycle

counts, physical inventory counts, pick operations, order processing, auditing orders, staging orders for

shipment, and moving orders into transit

• Handles customer owned inventory properly to minimize damage and preserve quality

• Executes to all Warehouse SOP’s

• Supports efforts to evaluate warehouse operations and implement measures to maximize efficiencies2

• Adheres to all JB Hudco policies and procedures for all warehouse and vehicle operations

• Completes JB Hudco 360 HTS System processes when required

• Complies with best practices, directives, and JB Hudco Health & Safety policies and procedures

• Cleans and maintains the warehouse at all times

• Properly identifies, labels, and product

• Immediately informs the Transportation Manager of any scanning or RFID problems

• Assists Management in identifying potential problem areas and inefficiencies input for continuous

improvement

• Never operate company owned vehicles when under the influence of alcohol, prescription drugs, pain

killers, over the counter medication that can cause drowsiness, or illegal drugs. JB Hudco is an alcohol

and drug free work environment and maintains the right to conduct pre-employment drug testing as well

as random drug testing periodically per our policies and procedures

• Document and immediately report any load discrepancies to the Warehouse Team Leader or the

Warehouse Manager of the facility prior to departure

• Other duties as assigned

 

SCOPE DATA

• This position will ensure the safe operation of company owned vehicles and equipment used in

performance of the assigned tasks

• The position will ensure that deliveries are made on schedule

• The position handles all aspects of freight loading, transportation, unloading, documentation, RFID

Scanning, and routine service of the assigned company vehicle

• This is a non-supervisory role with no administration or supervisory responsibilities

 

WORKING RELATIONSHIP

• Though reporting to the Transportation Manager, this individual should be able to work

independently with minimal direction after training is completed and the driver has been evaluated

• Work directly with all levels of warehouse operations

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES

• A good Driver Motor Vehicle Report (MVR)

• Excellent interpersonal skills – team player

EXPERIENCE

 

• Forklift experience or certification preferred

• 1 year commercial Non-CDL driving experience within the past 3 years, OR

• 2 years’ commercial Non-CDL driving experience within the last 5 years, OR

• 5 years’ commercial Non-CDL driving experience within the last 10 years

 

CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES

• Valid Basic Class C License or

• Valid Class A CDL License (this is a plus)

 

EDUCATION
