Position Overview:

The Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) plays a crucial role in supporting individuals with behavioral and developmental challenges within residential care settings. As an RBT, you will collaborate closely with behavioral analysis teams and other mental health professionals to implement effective Individual Behavior Support Plans (IBSPs) for clients. Your primary responsibility is to enhance the quality of life for those under your care by promoting positive behaviors and skill development. As a consultant/interventionist, you are responsible providing the supports needed to promote independence while reducing challenging behaviors. This is done through training, observation, working one on one with clients, staff and families in the home and community. Communication takes our commitment to our clients' needs and supports seriously.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Behavioral Assessment and Data Collection:
    • Conduct initial assessments to understand client’ needs, strengths, and challenges.
    • Collect and record data on patient behavior, progress, and responses to interventions.
  2. Implementation of Behavior Plans:
    • Implement behavior reduction and skill acquisition protocols based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles.
    • Work directly with patients in various settings (home, clinic, community, and school) to deliver individualized treatment plans.
    • Consistently follow treatment plans under the supervision of a Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).
  3. Clinical Documentation and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate clinical notes and data using specialized software.
    • Prepare detailed reports on patient progress, including behavioral observations and outcomes.
    • Collaborate with senior mental health professionals to communicate patient updates and adjustments to treatment plans.
  4. Client Interaction and Support:
    • Interact compassionately with clients, care givers, regional centers, government agencies and families.
    • Assist clients with daily activities, including personal care, hygiene, and adaptive living skills.
    • Provide emotional support and encouragement to patients during therapy sessions.
  5. Parent Training and Collaboration:
    • Assist with staff training sessions to ensure consistency in implementing behavior strategies at home.
    • Collaborate with staff members to reinforce positive behaviors and address challenges.
  6. Professional Development:
    • Participate in ongoing training, evaluations, and team meetings.
    • Track supervision hours and renew RBT certification as required by regulatory bodies.

Qualifications:

  • Certification: Must hold a valid RBT certification.
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework in psychology, education, or related fields is advantageous.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or behavioral challenges preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Excellent communication skills to interact with clients, staff, outside agencies, and families, and colleagues.
    • Compassion, patience, and empathy.
    • Attention to detail in data collection and reporting.
    • Ability to follow treatment plans accurately.
