The purpose of this position is to assist with the install of electrical systems in new construction, upfit and remodel projects. This position will work under the supervision of a crew leader or foreman and provide assistance to the mechanics he/she is assigned to work with. This position will require oversight and guidance. Tasks which are expected to be performed include but are not limited to:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Experience measuring, bending, threading and installing electrical conduit to include MC, EMT and ridged raceways
  • Properly and efficiently set up for wire install, pulling wire and operating wire tuggers
  • Capable of terminating panels, setting fixtures, installing devices, installing cable tray
  • Must be well organized, able to work efficiently and demonstrate good time management skills
  • Ensure special equipment needs are communicated to the foreman
  • Interpret and understand job drawings to facilitate install of electrical system
  • Ability to establish material list and ensure material needs are communicated to the foreman
  • Ability to achieve the weekly benchmark objectives established by the foreman
  • Maintain familiarity with the plans, schedule and expectations for job based upon directives of foreman
  • Ensure safe work practices and maintain a safe work environment for all personnel.
  • Utilize all assigned PPE as appropriate for the hazards encountered
  • Maintain a positive work environment which promotes a culture of safety and open communication
  • Maintain a personal tool cache including hand tools, drill, drivers and all necessary attachments

Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age prior to beginning the program
  • Provide a High School Diploma or General Educational Development (GED equivalency)
  • Pass a screen for Illegal Drugs upon acceptance into the program and prior to being employed
  • Submit to a Criminal and Driving Records check upon acceptance into the program and prior to being employed.

Physical Requirements:

This applicant should be able to sit, bend, stoop and lift items not to exceed 50 pounds. This position should also be able to climb, crawl and squat as the job demands.

Primary Work Site:

This position will be a field deployable resource and will be assigned to working job sites for the purpose of electrical system install. This position will report directly to the crew lead or foreman. Columbia, SC and surrounding areas.
