Controls / BAS Technician

Position Summary:
The Controls/BAS Technician is responsible for the installation, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems, and be proficient in the programming and configuration of BAS hardware and software.
Key Responsibilities:
Installation and Commissioning:
- Install and commission Building Automation Systems, including wiring, device installation, and network setup.
- Configure and program BAS controllers, field devices, and system software.
- Verify system functionality and performance through testing and validation.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on BAS and associated control systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues, including hardware, software, and network problems.
- Repair or replace defective components and ensure proper system operation.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or technical certification in HVAC, electronics, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in BAS installation, programming, and maintenance.
- Experience with major BAS platforms such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, or similar.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and control diagrams.
- Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical wiring, and control logic.
- Knowledge of networking and communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks).
Soft Skills:
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Certifications and Licenses:
- Relevant industry certifications such as HVAC Technician Certification, BAS Certification, or similar preferred.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
