Position Summary:

The Controls/BAS Technician is responsible for the installation, programming, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Building Automation Systems (BAS) and controls. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of HVAC, electrical, and mechanical systems, and be proficient in the programming and configuration of BAS hardware and software.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation and Commissioning:

    • Install and commission Building Automation Systems, including wiring, device installation, and network setup.
    • Configure and program BAS controllers, field devices, and system software.
    • Verify system functionality and performance through testing and validation.

  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

    • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on BAS and associated control systems.
    • Diagnose and troubleshoot system issues, including hardware, software, and network problems.
    • Repair or replace defective components and ensure proper system operation.

Qualifications:

  • Education and Experience:

    • High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree or technical certification in HVAC, electronics, or related field preferred.
    • Minimum of 3 years of experience in BAS installation, programming, and maintenance.
    • Experience with major BAS platforms such as Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell, or similar.

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, and control diagrams.
    • Strong understanding of HVAC systems, electrical wiring, and control logic.
    • Knowledge of networking and communication protocols (BACnet, Modbus, LonWorks).

  • Soft Skills:

    • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Certifications and Licenses:

    • Relevant industry certifications such as HVAC Technician Certification, BAS Certification, or similar preferred.
    • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
