Sound Technician

General Description: The Sound Engineer is responsible for managing all aspects of audio production and reinforcement within a church setting. This role requires a deep understanding of audio equipment, acoustics, and live sound production. The contractor will collaborate closely with church staff, musicians, and technical teams to ensure high-quality audio experiences during services, events, and productions.
Key Responsibilities
1. Audio System Setup and Maintenance
- Set up audio systems for various church events, including services, concerts, and special events.
- Ensure all audio equipment is properly configured and maintained for optimal performance.
- Troubleshoot and repair audio equipment as needed to minimize downtime.
2. Live Sound Mixing
- Operate mixing consoles during live services and events to achieve balanced and clear sound for musicians, speakers, and performers.
- Adjust audio levels, EQ, and effects in real-time to accommodate different musical styles, speakers, and venue requirements.
- Work closely with musicians and vocalists to achieve desired sound quality and balance.
3. Technical Support and Training
- Provide technical support to church staff and volunteers involved in audio production.
- Educate team members on best practices for audio equipment operation, troubleshooting, and safety protocols.
4. Event Coordination:
- Collaborate with church leadership and event planners to understand audio requirements for upcoming events.
- Coordinate with other technical teams (e.g., lighting, video) to ensure seamless integration of audiovisual elements
- Attend rehearsals and meetings as scheduled to discuss audio cues, timing, and logistics for services and productions.
5. Quality Assurance and Improvement
- Remain current with industry trends and technologies related to audio production and integrate new techniques or equipment as appropriate.
Key Qualifications:
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) working with audio equipment in live sound production environments, preferably in a church or similar setting.
- Proficiency with audio mixing consoles Behringer X32/Midas M32, Midas HD-96, and avid consoles, amplifiers, microphones, speakers, and signal processing equipment. Behringer X32/Midas M32, Midas HD-96 and avid consoles.
- Strong technical troubleshooting skills and ability to quickly resolve audio-related issues under pressure.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Flexibility to work irregular hours, including weekends and evenings, to support church events and services.
