Blow Molding Machine Operator

Summary: Operates and maintains multiple blow molding machines, laser dating systems, and bottle inspection machines to produce and audit PET bottles for production lines by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assures bottles meet all test and quality requirements at startup.
  • Starts up blow molding machines that make PET bottles.
  • Cleans the cavity of molds when necessary.
  • Checks bottle testers to ensure they are running correctly.
  • Responsible for the quality of bottles running on production lines.
  • Keeps the entire area neat and orderly, completing all daily cleanup assignments.
  • Demonstrates the ability to start various types of blow machines. To demonstrate this ability, the individual must understand the operation of the following:
  • Preform temperature
  • Bottle temperature
  • Air pressure
  • Water pressure
  • Mold temperature
  • BPH blow speed
  • Oil thermodex
  • Understands and establishes production standards by adjusting conditions to obtain the optimum cycle without sacrificing quality.
  • Maintains thorough and complete knowledge of bottle defects, including both visual and non-visual problems, and is able to correct all quality problems without assistance.
  • Conducts handle torque checks.
  • Keeps packers or palletizers running.
  • Performs mechanical troubleshooting, assists maintenance staff with repairs, machine lubrication, and mold cleanup.
  • Replaces necessary parts (nozzles, o-rings, solenoid valves, 3-way valves, stretch rod cylinders, heaters, hoses, grippers, spindles, etc.).
  • Adjusts mold gaps, mold open/close levers, mold lockings, etc.
  • Is aware of the type of preform, the date preforms were made, and the machine they were made from.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
