Position Summary


The role of Controller is a critical position within our organization, requiring an experienced accountant to oversee the accounting operations of the company that includes accounts receivable, accounts payable, and expense management. As an effective communicator and skilled financial leader, the Controller will play a pivotal role in optimizing the budgeting, payroll, and financial reporting processes. The Controller will have four direct reports and will report directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Major Duties and Responsibilities


  • Manage and oversee all accounting activities, including the production of financial reports and statements
  • Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end close processes
  • Supervise and direct accounting staff, ensuring compliance with best practices and established procedures
  • Complete key account reconciliations and review others prepared by the team
  • Effectively manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems, ensuring compliance with applicable GAAP standards, regulatory requirements
  • Contribute to, and manage, the development, implementation, and maintenance of robust financial controls and guidelines
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, efficiencies, and areas for cost reduction
  • Streamline accounting functions and operations
  • Coordinate and lead the annual audit process with external auditors and tax professionals
  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings
  • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget, financial forecasts, and report variances

Required Skills/Abilities:


  • Knowledge of U.S. GAAP
  • Experience with Accounting Software (QuickBooks a plus)
  • Experience with multi company financial statements and transactions
  • Experience managing accounting functions, particularly AR and AP
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Attention to detail and the ability to analyze large amounts of data
  • Organization and project management
  • The ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and management about the finances
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelors degree in accounting or business administration required
  • CPA preferred
  • 5+ years of experience as a senior-level accounting or finance manager
