Beaufort Community Sailing and Boating’s mission is to instill seamanship skills in all our program participants
and provide a safe, fun, and educational experience to the Beaufort, SC Community.


Beaufort Community Sailing and Boating (BCSB) offers a Summer Sailing Camp program for youth ages 8 to
16 years old. The program includes curriculum ranging from basic sailing and seamanship skills to intro to
racing. The Summer Camp program will be offered weekly from 9am – 5pm, beginning June 10, 2024 and will
end August 2, 2024, excluding the week of July 1st-5th.


The Lead Sailing Instructor position requires:
- A qualified adult aged over 18 with sailing and boating experience.
- A Level I, II, or III US Sailing Certification is preferred, but not required.
- A professional attitude congruent with BCSB’s values, mission and curriculum.
- Working under the direction of the BCSB Sailing Director.
- Providing sailing instruction to camp participants, assisting with boat maintenance, equipment
inventory, and upkeep.
- Knowledge in basic rigging, boat parts, on-water/land sailing instruction, powerboat handling skills,
and beginner racing tactics.
- Experience working with youth ages 8 to 16.
- Experience in a summer camp leadership role.
- CPR and First Aid Certification
- SC Safe Boater’s License Certificate or equivalent
- Safe Sport Training

Responsibilities include:
- Co-leading the Summer Sailing Camp program with the Sailing Director.
- Provide a safe, positive learning environment on and off the water.
- Implementing the BCSB curriculum provided by the Sailing Director.

Compensation:

This is an hourly position for 7 weeks with competitive pay at $16-$20 per hour. Pay rate will be
commensurate with experience. Housing may be provided.
