Summary: The Lab and Radiology Director leads Hunter Health Clinic’s Lab and Radiology department and ensures that all patients receive quality care within the lab while maintaining compliance with all federal grants, OSHA, CLIA, and Hunter Health Clinic policies and procedures.

 

Job Responsibilities:

Lab Supervision Duties

  • Supervises and coordinates the clinical lab and staff.
  • Manages in-house testing of urinalysis, hematology, microbiology, serology, and chemistry.
  • Assists with drawing or obtaining samples and ordering tests from the outside lab.
  • Recognizes and clarifies abnormal lab results.
  • Maintains inventory of supplies for the department.
  • Collects and records complete logs for all tests and pap smears.
  • Implements new testing procedures as needed.
  • Trains new employees, as well as oversees continuous development for the department.
  • Ensures compliance by abiding by CLIA regulations and obtaining proper certifications.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Radiology Supervision Duties

  • Provides oversight of radiology services by directing and coordinating with the staff.
  • Oversees staff and operation of imaging equipment.
  • Meets radiology operational standards by contributing to strategic plans and reviews, implementing patient-service standards to ensure high productivity and quality while resolving problems and identifying improvements.
  • Supports patient care by resolving radiology issues with physicians, radiologists, radiology technologists, and staff.
  • Improves quality results by evaluating accuracy and quality of images
  • Provides technical assistance and implements new procedures as needed.
  • Provides statistical reports by controlling the collection of treatment and clinical data.
  • Provides a safe environment by monitoring radioactive exposure of staff and patients by controlling radium handling techniques and maintaining radium records.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

 

 


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological Science or Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science from an accredited institution is required.
  • Current license and/or certification in the Laboratory field required.
  • Have at least two years of laboratory training or experience or both in non-waived and have at least two years of supervisory laboratory experience in non-waived testing is required.
