We are seeking Experienced Elementary Reading Tutors to provide quality reading tutoring over the summer months at various summer camp locations in Tampa Bay
Are you interested in working for a veteran-teacher established tutoring company located in St Petersburg, Florida?
These positions will take you to various summer camp locations in Hillsborough and Pinellas County working with small groups or individual diverse learners. You will provide quality reading instruction to students on an individual or group basis as needed and determined by expertise and assessment. All tutoring and student materials are provided, and each tutor implements a given curriculum, so no lesson planning is needed.
10-20 hours per week $20-25 per hour 1099 contractor
Preferred candidates will be certified teachers with current classroom experience,
Requirements:
- Verifiable teaching employment
- Current background check i.e., employed teacher or be able provide level 2 background check documentation.
- Own reliable transportation
- Available for seven weeks Monday-Friday, 9 AM-4 PM, beginning June 10th-July 26th.
- 1099 contractor position
Responsibilities:
- Manage and educate students in a non-classroom setting.
- Be familiar, comfortable working with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Be able to work in a rapidly changing environment.
- Quickly think and make quality decisions.
- Implement provided lesson plans at varying academic levels in the elementary grades.
- Establish academic goals for students.
- Document and communicate student’s progress.
- Document and provide director signed verification of hours tutored.
- Provide constructive, kind feedback for students.
- Use Be Smart curriculum and materials provided.
- Make reading gains for elementary age children in summer camp setting.
Qualifications:
- Previous or current FLDOE certified experience in teaching, tutoring, or other related fields.
- Ability to build rapport with students, supervisor, and summer camp staff.
- Experience in teaching phonics, writing, comprehension, ELA core subject.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Communicate with camp director and Be Smart supervisor effectively and professionally.
- Be a quality representative of Be Smart Tutoring Company and the nationally recognized charity organization providing project funding.
- Recognize Be Smart Tutoring’s mission to provide effective quality reading instruction to underprivileged youth.
