Bentonville Birth Services — Northwest Arkansas’ premier provider of doula services -- is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Postpartum Doula. Our postpartum doulas assist in easing newborn days (and nights). They provide hands-on help with baby-feeding, educate parents on baby care and can provide light housework (laundry folding and meal prep). They also provide a listening ear and compassionate support to new parents navigating a significant life change.

We are a team of independent contractors that serve a diverse population of people throughout the region. Bentonville Birth Services provides all the marketing, contracting, and invoicing of clients -- freeing our doulas up to focus on their clients and provide excellent support. We utilize a mentorship model to help newer doulas grow in skill level and confidence. Our team is committed to bodily autonomy, anti-racist action, and supporting all family structures.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide physical and emotional support to new mothers and their families after childbirth in either a day or night setting depending on the client and contractor preference.
  • Offer guidance on newborn care, breastfeeding, and infant development.
  • Care for newborns while parents sleep; at times assist with needs of siblings.
  • Assist with light household tasks and meal preparation.
  • Advocate for the needs of the mother and family.
  • Connect families to with evidence-based information and trusted referrals to other services
  • Create a calm and supportive environment for the new parents.

Qualifications

  • Completed postpartum doula training
  • Have a doula certification or working toward certification
  • Reliable, nurturing, flexible, and intuitive to the needs of others
  • Have access to reliable personal travel options both day and night

Certifications

  • Current Infant CPR and First Aid card.
  • Must pass a background check
  • References upon request

Preferred

  • Training to identify the risk factors and symptoms of Perinatal Mood disorders (PMADs)
  • Education and best practices of lactation/breastfeeding
  • Applicable experience with infants preferred
  • Spanish or Hindi speaking a plus
