Job Summary: A Butane Cannabis Extraction Lab Technician plays a critical role in the production of cannabis concentrates and extracts. They are responsible for safely and efficiently extracting cannabinoids and terpenes from cannabis plant material using butane extraction methods. This position requires a strong understanding of laboratory safety protocols, extraction equipment operation, and a passion for producing high-quality cannabis concentrates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Extraction Process: Conduct butane extraction processes in compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory standards.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate and maintain extraction equipment, such as closed-loop extraction systems, vacuum ovens, and rotary evaporators.
  • Quality Control: Perform in-process and post-process quality control tests to ensure the purity, potency, and quality of cannabis extracts.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of extraction processes, including batch information, extraction parameters, and quality control data.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhere to strict safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Material Handling: Properly handle and prepare cannabis plant material for extraction.
  • Lab Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized lab environment, including regular equipment cleaning and maintenance.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with local, state, and federal regulations related to cannabis extraction and ensure compliance at all times.
  • Inventory Management: Manage inventory of raw materials, solvents, and other lab supplies necessary for extraction processes.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other members of the extraction team and, in some cases, with the cultivation and compliance departments.
  • Continuous Improvement: Seek opportunities for process improvement and efficiency enhancement in the extraction process.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent. A degree in chemistry or a related field is a plus.
  • Prior experience in cannabis extraction, preferably with butane extraction methods.
  • Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of cannabis extraction equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality products.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and compliance with relevant regulations.
  • Excellent record-keeping and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn and adapt.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow standard operating procedures.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift heavy objects if required.

Working Conditions:

This position typically involves working in a laboratory setting with exposure to butane, cannabis plant material, and extraction equipment. It may also require occasional weekend or evening shifts depending on the production schedule. Must be comfortable working in temperature extremes. Must be able to lift 50 Lbs.
