GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:

Small marine based fabrication shop looking for a welder to join our team. The candidate must possess a good attitude and be willing to learn under the direction of their supervisor. Candidate should have a background in welding, or have completed welding school.

DESIRED EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND/OR SKILLS:

High school diploma/GED equivalent

Valid drivers license

Written and verbal communication skills

Knowledge of basic shop mathematics

Ability to read and understand blueprints and comprehend verbal instruction from supervisor

Proficient in effective operation of welding equipment

A strong team oriented attitude

A positive attitude and willing to learn and take instructions well

Must pass welding test as part of the application process

Must pass written test of basic math and comprehension

Position requires pre-employment drug screening and background check

DUTIES:

Mig weld steel.

Flux Core weld stainless steel.

Spool gun mig weld aluminum.

Perform welding tasks as directed under the direction of the immediate supervisor.

Provide quality welds that meet specifications and approval of the Supervisor and Production Manager. This includes, but is not limited to, proper weld size, weld profile, cleaning, etc.

Complete any relevant specific job duties as required by immediate supervision

Operate grinders, drills, saws, oxy-fuel torches, plasma cutters, and other basic equipment & hand tools.

Maintain a clean and orderly workstation.

PHYSICAL AND ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to stand for long periods of time

Ability to occasionally pull, push, carry, or lift tools, equipment or materials 75 lbs or less

Ability to withstand bending, squatting, or crouching

Ability to frequently handle (hold, seize, grasp, turn, etc.) tools, equipment, or material

Ability to work in inclement weather conditions, to include cold, heat, and humidity

Experience level: 1 year or welding school certificate

Willing to train up the right candidate with the right attitude

Job Type: Full-time

Wage: DOE

Starting Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour based on experience with potential for 90 day evaluation increase

Expected hours: 40 per week
