Position Overview:
A Medical Clerk plays a crucial role in healthcare facilities, providing administrative support to ensure efficient operation. The role involves various tasks related to patient records management, scheduling, and communication with healthcare professionals and patients. Medical Clerks are essential in maintaining the smooth functioning of healthcare settings by managing administrative duties with accuracy and attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Patient Registration: Registering new patients by collecting demographic information, insurance details, and medical history accurately into the electronic health records (EHR) system.

2. Appointment Scheduling: Coordinating patient appointments by efficiently managing scheduling systems, ensuring proper allocation of time slots and resources.

3. Medical Records Management: Organizing and maintaining patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and confidentiality protocols. This includes filing, scanning, and retrieving records as needed.

4. Billing and Insurance Processing: Assisting with billing tasks such as verifying insurance coverage, processing claims, and resolving billing inquiries from patients and insurance providers.

5. Front Desk Operations: Serving as the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing excellent customer service, answering inquiries, and directing them to appropriate healthcare professionals or departments.

6. Communication: Facilitating communication between healthcare providers, patients, and other staff members by relaying messages, scheduling consultations, and ensuring timely responses to inquiries.

7. Administrative Support: Providing general administrative assistance to medical staff, including data entry, copying, faxing, and managing correspondence.

8. Compliance: Adhering to regulatory requirements and organizational policies regarding patient privacy, data security, and medical documentation.

9. Inventory Management: Monitoring and maintaining inventory of office supplies, forms, and equipment necessary for daily operations.

Qualifications:

- High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in medical office administration or related field is a plus.
- Proven experience in administrative roles, preferably in a healthcare setting.
- Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHR) systems and other office software applications.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients, healthcare professionals, and colleagues.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in performing data entry and record-keeping tasks.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and understanding of healthcare regulations and compliance standards.
