In this essential role, the Lead Carpenter executes a variety of fieldwork activities pivotal to our ongoing growth and success at Driftwood Custom Carpentry. Responsibilities include but are not limited to managing the job site, effectively communicating with internal and external partners, and leading a dedicated team in providing customers with an unmatched, exceptional remodeling and customer experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES

What You Can Expect Day-to-Day

While every day is different, the Lead Carpenter possesses the skills, knowledge, and foresight to anticipate and solve problems before they arise and leverages both experience and expertise to upsell to clients.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Act as the on-site point of contact for clients during the project's construction phase
  • Communicate effectively with clients, project manager, coworkers, subcontractors, and design team members to ensure the timely progress of work and any delays are addressed promptly
  • Oversee daily field operations to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to our client's satisfaction
  • Deliver leadership and direction to the team members on site resulting in high-quality work
  • Mentor and guide team members through identifying their strengths and mitigating their weaknesses
  • Conduct daily checks of the job site to ensure it is in a clean and organized state and free of debris, dust, and scattered tools
  • Ensure that tools are put away in an organized manner in the work trailer and the trailer is tidy and ready for the next day's work
  • Communicate needs for tools, saw blades, and other materials to the appropriate parties before they are needed
  • Build and nurture a positive and respectful company culture that values teamwork, attention to detail, and exceptional client service

REQUIREMENTS

Minimum Required:

  • 5+ yrs. of professional experience in a similar role
  • Proven track record of successful project management and client communication
  • Strong leadership and team-building skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to problem-solve and think creatively
  • Ability to work in various seasonal weather conditions
  • Knowledge of construction materials, methods, and safety standards
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing project needs and timelines
  • Experience as a craftsman with a strong understanding of framing and finish work
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized job site
  • Familiarity with tools saw blades, and other materials necessary for the job
  • Attention to detail and a focus on quality work
  • Ability to train and mentor team members, identifying their strengths and areas of development while facilitating growth and minimizing deficiencies

Preferred:

  • Experience reading blueprints
  • Previous leadership experience in a similar environment and/or role
  • Formal training in your specialty/area of expertise
  • Experience driving a trailer with up 15K lbs
