Hattin Construction Management is seeking fulltime Sr. Project Engineer for possible work opportunity in Dublin CA. Project Engineer will assist the project or construction manager in management of construction projects: on-site, off-site, project controls and contractors.

Construction projects may consist of correctional/jail facilities, educational facilities, residential, industrial and commercial projects of all sizes. Prepare daily construction documents, and interface with the client and consultants.

Primary Responsibilities:

·        Schedule and coordinate the preliminary site preparations.

·        Review the general Construction Documents for present level of completeness and incorporation of comments to final documents.

·        Conduct quantity survey and prepare material take-off from engineering drawings and specifications.

·        Coordinate and assist in the preparation of the pre-bid conference and bid packaging.

·        Assist in the preparation of the scope, solicitation and review of proposals to be retained by owner.

·        Review all contract documents; manage and maintain records in an orderly manner, including supplements, requests for information, change orders, field orders, submittals, correspondence, and shop drawings.

·        Independently monitor the submittal schedule and alert the Project Manager.

·        Coordinate and observe timely inspection by outside regulatory and other agencies including the State Fire Marshal, City Inspectors and Water and Electric Utility Companies.

·        Prepare weekly construction progress reports, which are to be submitted to and discussed with the Project Manager.

·        Prepare monthly written project status report and deliver to the Project Manager.

·        Make and maintain photographic record of activities and conditions at the Project Site.

·        Participate in weekly construction meetings.

·        Review, compare, and evaluate Contractors’ construction bids and change order requests.

·        Assist client in negotiating change order cost with contractors.

·        Track and log project budgets, contract commitments and change orders using computerized spreadsheets.

·        Other related tasks, as directed by the Project Manager.

·        Additional or different functions may be assigned to the employee periodically.

 

Minimum Skills or Experience Requirements

·        Engineering, Construction Management, or Architectural degree, or completion of Construction Management Certificate Program.

·        3+ years of construction-related experience

·        Proficient in Procore Construction Management software

·        Intermediate understanding of construction cost accounting

·        Intermediate estimating and scheduling skills

·        Ability to read and understand plans and specifications

·        Effective organizational skills

·        Effective written and verbal English language communication skills

·        Ability to use independent judgement; self-starting

·        Drafting and advanced computer skills

·        Knowledge of virtual construction technology systems

·        Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications including Word and Excel; and other work-related software and hardware

·        Must be client oriented and good interpersonal skills

·        Ability to manage competing deadlines and shift focus quickly

·        Applicants must possess a valid California's driver's license and reliable transportation

·        Must be comfortable regularly visiting construction work sites
